Welcome to Newby House Interiors, a trusted family-run furniture business serving customers across the UK. Based in the village of Newby, North Yorkshire, we have been operating exclusively online since 2008.

Our Story

Our founder, John Lloyd, began his career in 1960 as an apprentice French polisher, restoring some of England’s finest antique and reproduction furniture. He opened his first store on Oxford Road, Middlesbrough, in 1969, quickly gaining a reputation for quality craftsmanship and outstanding customer service.

In 1978, John’s wife Ann joined the business as an interior design consultant, expanding our services further. As the business grew, we moved to a larger 18,000-square-foot store on Portrack Lane, Stockton-on-Tees, where our success continued to flourish.

Going Online

Recognising the opportunities of the digital era, we launched one of the UK’s first e-commerce furniture websites in 2000. By 2008, we had transitioned to an online-only business model, allowing us to offer competitive prices by reducing overhead costs, while maintaining our commitment to quality service.

In 2015, John’s son Richard joined the company, overseeing daily operations and ensuring that our tradition of excellent service continues today.
